Access Your Home Server From Anywhere (Tailscale)

Access Jellyfin, Immich and your files from anywhere with Tailscale — no router ports open, no public IP, no exposed SSH. Installation included.

Stop Opening Router Ports

Never use port forwarding (Port 80, Port 443, or Port 22 for SSH) directly to the open internet unless you want bots trying to hack your server 24/7.

The Magic of Tailscale

When I am not at home or connected to my local Wi-Fi, I use the Tailscale app. Tailscale is a zero-config VPN based on WireGuard. It assigns a secure, private IP address to your server and your phone — inside its own 100.64.0.0/10 range, so it can never collide with your home network. (If CIDR notation like that looks like noise, the subnet calculator translates any range into plain addresses.)

I simply toggle Tailscale on my smartphone, and it feels incredibly fast. I can stream Jellyfin or manage Immich from across the world as if I were sitting in my own living room.

Installation
