Privacy Policy

MyHomeServerGuide (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates https://myhomeserverguide.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how it is used, who we share it with, and the rights you have — under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, and, for residents of California, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA).
In short: we collect as little as possible. There are no user accounts, we do not sell your personal information, and cookies are used primarily for advertising served by Google AdSense — with your consent where the law requires it.
1. Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is:
- Name: [YOUR NAME] (operating as MyHomeServerGuide)
- Location: [YOUR CITY, SPAIN]
- Contact email: [YOUR EMAIL]
We have not appointed a Data Protection Officer because we do not carry out large-scale monitoring or process special categories of data. All privacy enquiries should be sent to the email address above.
2. What data we collect and why
a) Contact form
If you use our contact form, we receive the data you enter: your name, email address, subject and message. The form is delivered to us by Formspree, Inc., which acts as our data processor.
- Purpose: to read and reply to your message.
- Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) and, where applicable, your consent.
- Retention: contact messages are kept for up to 24 months, then deleted.
b) Technical data and server logs
Our hosting and content delivery provider, Cloudflare, Inc., may process technical data (such as IP address, browser type, requested URL and timestamps) to deliver the Site and protect it against attacks and abuse.
- Purpose: security, fraud prevention and service reliability.
- Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the Site available and secure (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
c) Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and privacy-friendly: it does not use cookies or local storage, does not fingerprint devices, and reports only aggregated statistics (page views, referrers, country). No individual visitor is tracked across sites.
d) Advertising — Google AdSense
The Site displays advertising served by Google AdSense. Google and its third-party advertising vendors may use cookies and similar technologies to:
- serve ads based on your previous visits to this Site and/or other websites;
- measure ad performance and prevent fraud;
- limit how often you see the same ad.
Where you are located in the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, personalized advertising is only shown after you give consent through the consent message (Google-certified Consent Management Platform). If you decline, we serve non-personalized ads. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time as described in our Cookie Policy.
You can opt out of personalized advertising on Google at any time via Google Ads Settings, or opt out of many vendors at once at aboutads.info or networkadvertising.org.
- Legal basis: your consent for advertising cookies (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive), collected through the consent message.
- For more detail on Google’s use of data, see How Google uses information from sites that use our services.
3. Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal information. Data is only shared with the service providers that make the Site work:
| Provider | Role | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare, Inc. | Hosting, CDN, security, cookieless analytics | Technical/log data |
| Formspree, Inc. | Contact form delivery | Form contents |
| Google LLC | Ad serving (AdSense) and consent management | Cookie identifiers, IP address, device and usage signals |
We may also disclose data if required by law or to protect our legal rights.
4. International data transfers
Some providers are based in the United States. Where personal data leaves the EEA or the UK, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards under Article 46 GDPR — such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (where the provider is certified) and/or Standard Contractual Clauses with additional measures.
5. How long we keep data
- Contact messages: up to 24 months.
- Server/technical logs: short-lived, as managed by Cloudflare.
- Advertising cookies: for the durations described in Google’s cookie documentation, or until you withdraw consent — whichever comes first.
6. Your rights (EEA, UK and Switzerland)
You have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- request rectification of inaccurate data;
- request erasure (the “right to be forgotten”);
- request restriction of processing;
- receive a portable copy of your data;
- object to processing based on legitimate interests;
- withdraw consent at any time (without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing).
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. In Spain this is the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD) — www.aepd.es. In the UK it is the ICO — ico.org.uk.
To exercise any right, email us at [YOUR EMAIL]. We will respond within one month (extendable by two months for complex requests).
7. Your California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the following applies:
- Categories of personal information collected in the last 12 months: identifiers (name, email address, and message content you voluntarily provide via the contact form); internet or other network activity (collected via advertising cookies, such as pages viewed and interactions with ads).
- Purposes: responding to enquiries; aggregated analytics; advertising.
- Sale: we do not sell personal information for monetary consideration.
- Sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising: our advertising partner (Google) and its vendors may process cookie data to show you relevant ads. Where required by law, you can opt out using the privacy choices link shown in the advertising consent message when you visit the Site. We honor opt-out preference signals such as the Global Privacy Control (GPC) where required.
- Your rights: to know, to delete, to correct, to opt out of sale/sharing, to limit the use of sensitive personal information (we do not collect sensitive personal information), and to non-discrimination for exercising your rights.
- How to exercise: email [YOUR EMAIL]. You may use an authorized agent. We may need to verify your identity before acting. We respond within 45 days as required by law.
8. Children’s privacy
The Site is a general-audience website not directed at children under 16 (or under 13 in the United States). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
The Site itself does not track you across websites. Because we rely on third parties for advertising, browser-level signals such as GPC are honored through our consent setup where the law requires it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be highlighted on the Site.
